NTOU Celebrates Teacher's Day with Awards Ceremony and Gratitudetitude to All Educators

As Teacher's Day approached, National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) hosted a "Celebration Tea Party" on September 27th, inviting faculty and staff to join in expressing their appreciation for the hard work and contributions of their educators. During this event, President Hsu Tai-Wen(許泰文) presented ten awards, including the "Outstanding Teacher Award for the 111th Academic Year," and introduced new faculty members. President Hsu Tai-Wen conveyed his heartfelt gratitude for the dedication of all NTOU teachers and colleagues, who have steadfastly nurtured exceptional marine professionals. He also emphasized the university's significant progress in various areas, such as international journal publications, industry-academic collaboration projects, technology transfers, and enrollment.

The Teacher's Day celebration tea party was held in the First Lecture Hall of the Administration Building. President Hsu Tai-Wen personally bestowed the following accolades: "Outstanding Teacher Award for the 111th Academic Year," "University Excellent Teacher Award for the 111th Academic Year," "Ministry of Education Subsidized 'Higher Education Teaching Practice Research Program Award' for the 112th Academic Year," "Outstanding Research Award for the 111th Academic Year," "Research Progress Award for the 111th Academic Year," "Departmental Excellence Competition for the 111th Academic Year," "Enhancing Social Service Award for the 112th Academic Year," "Outstanding Mentor Award for the 111th Academic Year," "Lifetime Outstanding Mentor Award for the 111th Academic Year," and "Outstanding Unit Award for Promoting Mentorship Business for the 111th Academic Year" to the deserving teachers and academic units.

President Hsu expressed his deep appreciation for the wholehearted contributions of NTOU teachers, who have nurtured numerous outstanding marine professionals, actively engaged in academic research and published papers, established robust industry-academic connections, and fulfilled the university's social responsibility. Notably, last year witnessed a historic high with 765 journal papers published, and in recent years, NTOU has consistently increased its research publications, with aspirations to reach 800 papers, thus showcasing the university's expertise on a global scale. The teachers have also achieved significant results in industry-academic collaborations, with this year's total project funding exceeding NT$1.3 billion. President Hsu expressed his sincere gratitude to all the teachers for their invaluable contributions.

During the event, new faculty members at NTOU introduced themselves individually. President Hsu Tai-Wen emphasized that becoming a professor is no easy task and encouraged the new educators to continuously innovate and embrace challenges. NTOU has established various incentive systems and flexible salary structures to motivate new teaching and research personnel, helping them lay a solid foundation for their careers. With the university having reached its enrollment capacity for two consecutive years, currently accommodating approximately 9,300 students, President Hsu expressed his hope that the institution can attract more outstanding teachers, strengthen its teaching staff, enhance foreign language proficiency, and bolster international capabilities. NTOU will persist in expanding its efforts and actively recruiting international students, thus nurturing the sustainable talent demanded by businesses through industry-academic collaboration. President Hsu envisions NTOU as a "top international university in marine studies, excelling in teaching and distinctive research."
