NTOU Alumni Contribute Toward Establishment of New International Dormitory in Matsu Campus

K. S. Wang & NTOU Alumni International Dormitory

      On the morning of May 21st, National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) held a grand opening ceremony to celebrate the establishment of “K . S. Wang & NTOU Alumni International Dormitory” on the Matsu campus. With the donation of approximately NTD 55 million from NTOU alumni, the 3-floor building with over one hundred beds is expected to provide sufficient accommodation space and expand opportunities to students from offshore islands to various backgrounds.

      The fundraising for “K . S. Wang & NTOU Alumni International Dormitory” began in 2019. Dr. Wang, Wkang Hsiang (王光祥), the then President of NTOU Alumni Association, donated NTD 20 million to support the construction as the pioneer. Dr. Wang’s generosity successfully gathered contributions from 117 NTOU alumni, including 11 alumni who donated over a million.

      Prof. Tai-Wen Hsu (許泰文), president of NTOU, expressed sincere appreciation to Alumni and ceremony attendees from Legislative Yuan, Lienchiang County Government, and Lienchiang County Council for their support. Prof. Hsu further stated that the new dormitory would help enhance students’ study environment and provide better accommodations during their stay in Matsu. The support of NTOU alumni not only contributed to their Alma Mater but accelerated local revitalization by importing academic resources.

      NTOU established the Matsu Campus in 2017, aiming to cultivate interdisciplinary talents with a global vision. To date, students in 3 departments of NTOU spend their sophomore year in the Matsu Campus. NTOU strives to provide a high-quality higher education environment in Matsu with NTOU alumni and local government.
