Ambassador of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines visits NTOU

      The Embassy of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) represented by Ambassador H. E. Andrea Bowman, visited National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) on Feb. 10th, 2023. The SVG Embassy delegation met with Prof. Tai-Wen Hsu, President of NTOU, Prof. Cheng-Yu Ku, Vice President of NTOU, and Prof. Yu-Wei Chang, Dean of the Office of International Affairs. NTOU and The SVG delegation discussed issues centered on aquaculture, marine resources exploitation, and climate change. In the meeting, NTOU research team displayed value-end products made from sargassum, hoping to support Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in dealing with the over-reproduction problem of sargassum. NTOU expected to strengthen diplomatic relations by supporting industrial upgrading in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

      Saint Vincent and the Grenadines delegation included Ambassador H. E. Andrea Bowman, Minister Counsellor Elroy Wilson, and Counsellor Shebby-Ann Dennie. NTOU has developed stable partnerships with ROC Diplomatic Allies in Latin America and Caribbean. In December 2022, the Saint Lucia delegation led by Dr. Robert Kennedy Lewis, Ambassador of Saint Lucia to Taiwan, was also amazed at NTOU’s research contribution to sustainable value-end products when visiting NTOU.

      Janika Afisha Williams, a SVG Ph.D. student at the Institute of Marine Biology, NTOU, attended the meeting and shared her campus life and passion for environmental science. She recommended NTOU due to its well-established English programs and supporting system. The seafront surrounding in Keelung also made her feel at home. NTOU has cultivated outstanding SVG Alumni in various professional fields, and welcomes international students studying at NTOU by expanding scholarship and research opportunities.

      After the meeting, the delegation visited the CEO Cultivation Center for Aquatic Organisms Aquatic Animal Center. Dept. of Aquaculture Professor Meng-Chou Lee(李孟洲), Dept. of Aquaculture Associate Professor Po-Tsang Lee(李柏蒼), and Center of Excellence for the Oceans Assistant Research Fellow Dr. Jui-Sheng Chang(張睿昇) introduced highlight researches of NTOU.
