Dr. Robert Kennedy Lewis, Ambassador of Saint Lucia to Taiwan, led a delegation and visited National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) on Dec. 20th, 2022. The delegation had a discussion with NTOU focusing on Blue Economy and agreed on undergoing the project of sargassum application for the value end products. NTOU shared the research contribution of aquaculture, marine resources exploitation, and climate change. NTOU is looking forward to supporting industrial upgrading in Saint Lucia by cultivating international talents through collaboration on scholarship projects.

The Saint Lucia delegation included Ambassador Dr. Robert Kennedy Lewis and his family members, Mrs. Brenda Phanis-Lewis and Ms. Saija Lewis. NTOU has developed a long-term partnership with Saint Lucia since their last visit in 2021, led by former Ambassador of Saint Lucia to Taiwan, H. E. Edwin Laurent. To date, numbers of outstanding Saint Lucia Alumni graduated from NTOU and dedicated themselves to various industries.

During the meeting, NTOU faculties Dept. of Aquaculture Professor Meng-Chou Lee(李孟洲), Dept. of Aquaculture Associate Professor Po-Tsang Lee(李柏蒼), and Center of Excellence for the Oceans Assistant Research Fellow Dr. Jui-Sheng Chang(張睿昇) presented highlight researches of NTOU. Since Taiwan shares similar environmental issues with Saint Lucia, the academic contribution of NTOU strengthens the diplomatic relations between Taiwan and Saint Lucia.
