The 5th International Conference on Marine and Fisheries Science and Technology (MFST 2025), co-hosted by National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) and Nha Trang University, was successfully held from March 27 to 28, 2025, in Nha Trang, Vietnam. The event brought together over 200 scholars and researchers from 13 countries, featuring 65 oral presentations and 36 poster sessions, fostering deep academic exchange on cutting-edge topics in the fields of marine and fisheries science.

Distinguished keynote speakers included Professor Marco Abbiati, Science Attaché at the Italian Embassy in Vietnam; Vice President Professor Cheng-Yu Ku and Professor Ming-An Li from NTOU; and Vice President Pham Quoc Hung from Nha Trang University. Their presentations covered a range of pressing issues such as marine ecological monitoring, sustainable fisheries, climate change, and groundwater resource management, offering valuable insights into the future of marine science and technology.

Notably, Director General Mr. Vincent Yao of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City attended the opening ceremony at the invitation of NTOU. In his remarks, Director Yao emphasized the Office’s longstanding commitment to promoting higher education and scientific cooperation between Taiwan and Vietnam, expressing hopes for further deepening of bilateral academic and industrial exchanges, positioning Taiwan-Vietnam collaboration as a regional model.

As a co-organizer, National Taiwan Ocean University has been actively strengthening its partnership with Nha Trang University since signing a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement in May 2024. The two universities have collaborated extensively on research, student exchanges, and international forums. This conference stands as a testament to the strong and growing ties between the two institutions and their shared dedication to advancing regional marine science and technology.

Looking ahead, NTOU will continue to expand its international academic collaborations, work hand in hand with global partners to tackle challenges in the marine and fisheries sectors, and promote sustainable development and technological innovation throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
