From May 25 to 30, 2024, the National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) delegation, led by Yu-Wei Chang, Dean of the Office of International Affairs, visited Thailand to enhance academic exchanges and collaborations. The delegation included Po-Tsang Lee, Director of the Office of International Affairs, Associate Professor Hong-Yi Gong from the Department of Aquaculture, and Mr. Keng-Fu Li from the Office of International Affairs.
Upon arrival in Bangkok on May 25, the delegation immediately began their visits. They explored potential collaborations with industry alumni, discussed strategies for promoting Chinese language education with the local Chinese language center, and visited King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (KMITL) to discuss partnership agreements and immersion programs.
On May 26, the team presented NTOU's unique strengths at the local Chinese language center, focusing on innovative research in aquaculture and AI technology, which generated considerable interests among students and parents. They also visited the Department of Aquaculture at KMITL to discuss future cooperation details with faculty members.
Continuing their efforts, on May 27, the delegation visited Kasetsart University (KU), where they toured the campus and engaged in comprehensive discussions with local faculty on industry-university cooperation, joint research, and course collaborations. They also visited the local animal hospital and tilapia virus research facility to explore technical cooperation and student internship opportunities.
From May 28 to 29, the team traveled to Chiang Mai, where they were warmly welcomed by the Faculty of Agriculture at Chiang Mai University. A memorandum of understanding was signed, and both parties explored cooperation oppertunities in aquatic and terrestrial animal research. The visit also included the university's Zebra Fish laboratory, where plans for collaborative functional feed testing were discussed.
This visit has significantly strengthened NTOU's partnerships with several Thai universities, laying a solid foundation for future collaborations and international development.
