NTOU Signs MOU with Nha Trang University for Faculty and Student Exchange, Establish International Research Teams

National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) has renewed its partnership with Vietnam’s Nha Trang University (NTU) through a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed on May 22. This MOU aims to facilitate faculty and student exchanges , establish international research teams, and co-host biennial international conferences, enhancing cooperation in fields such as fisheries, aquaculture, biotechnology, food technology, ocean sciences , marine engineering, naval architecture & marine engineering, and economics.

NTOU President Prof. Tai-Wen Hsu and NTU Rector Prof. Trang Si Trung signed the MOU, committing to support exchanges, offer scholarships for international students, and form international research teams. They also plan to jointly organize international conferences every two years. President Prof. Tai-Wen Hsu emphasized that these academic exchanges will foster knowledge sharing and industry-academia collaborations, translating research into practical applications.

NTU, originally established in 1959 as the Fisheries Faculty of Hanoi Institute of Agriculture and Forestry, is now a leading institution in fisheries research and training in Vietnam.

The NTU delegation included Rector Prof. Trang Si Trung, Vice Rector Prof. Pham Quoc Hung, Director of the International Cooperation Department Prof. Nguyen The Han, Dean of Academic Affairs Prof. To Van Phuong, the Director of the Personnel Affairs Department Dr. Le Viet Phuong, Director of Research and Development Dr. Vu Ke Nghiep, and the Vice Director of the International Cooperation Department Mr. Luong Dinh Duy. After the signing ceremony, the delegation visited the Aquatic Animal Center and the Operation Center to gain insights into NTOU’s innovations in marine research and its integration with industry. They also met with the Office of Academic Affairs to discuss cooperation on online courses and university social responsibility initiatives.

This MOU recognizes past collaboration successes and sets the stage for future cooperation, offering expanded international research and collaboration opportunities for both institutions.
